It's already December and only 3 weeks to Christmas!!!

We've had a busy couple of weeks since our last shipment arrived, we still have some julmust and Aladdin chocolates left – but be in quick so you don't miss out.

SweNZ Taste closed for Christmas

SweNZ Taste will close for Christmas on the 22 December, please make sure you get your orders in before the 21st as our last shipment before Christmas will be sent on the morning of the 22nd.

We will open for business again on the 10th January.

SweNZ Taste goes to the Fair

For those of you who live in Wellington, please visit us at Thorndon Fair this Sunday – keep an eye out for the colorful Filiokus stall, as that is where we will be! (We won't be bringing any refrigerated food to the fair, sorry).

Other Fairs we will be attending this summer is the Market at the Scandinavian Gathering in Manawatu and Martinborough Fair.

This months recipe – Janssons Temptation.

You can not have a Scandinavian Christmas dinner without the traditional Jansons Temptation.

You may or may not know that the “anchovies” that we use in Scandinavia to prepare this dish is actually not the anchovies you can buy at the New Zealand supermarkets. The fillets used in Scandinavia are called anchovies, although they are prepared from a small sardine-like fish sprat (Sprattus sprattus) and not from the genuine anchovy (Engraulis encrasicholus).

Swedish canned sprat fillets have a distinctive flavor and their taste differs greatly from that of real anchovy fillets. This is an important fact to know when preparing original Swedish or Finnish dishes that call for anchovies to be used, thus meaning Swedish canned sprats.

Falkeskogs Anchovy Flavored Herring Fillets has the same distinctive taste and can be used to prepare these dishes. When using Falkeskogs Anchovy Flavored Herring Fillets, please substitute a 125g Swedish Anchovy can with 8-10 finely chopped Anchovy Flavored Herring Fillets.
